1) it is impossible to close the door, you would have to climb on a shelf. 2) climbing on a shelf would either make a big ruckus or break the shelf, making a big crash. 3) we are pretty laid back parents but we never leave him alone for too long without checking in on him.
4) if he, against all odds, managed to crawl in there and close the door on himself we would either here him scream or he would push the door open because that fridge is probably from the 70s and has a very weak seal on it.
5) the house is small. We would find him in under 3 minutes. 6) if anything should scare you you should be scared if the basent stairs, the big picture windows, the exposed cat poo in the littr box, him falling head first into the toilet bowl, climbing into the washer and getting trapped, having a bookshelf fall on him, cutting his finger off with scissors, slipping in the tub and hitting his head or swallowing an entire bottle of windex. Fortunately we know him pretty well and he would probably scream or gag or cry or simply stop if any of those things happened. Don't be afraid. He is in good hands even if you don't agree with what we allow him to do, or not do. :)
Erin....that is so scary to me. I am afraid he might think this is okay and figure out how to close the door entirely and suffocate.

DeleteI know you are wonderful and attentive parents...Eventually if you ever leave him at another person's house he might need to be aware of the danger.
Deletethat is a good thought. we will make sure that any caretakers are aware of his fridge habits. :)
