Egg Dying

Tumeric dye at top, onion dye at bottom.

We dyed eggs this past Easter using natural dyes. We used yellow onions to make a brown dye, tumeric to make a yellow dye, and purple cabbage to make a blue dye.

The Bear holding a wrapped egg before putting it in the dye.
We picked leaves and flowers from the yard and some cheap nylons to wrap them in and to hold the plants close to the egg shell.

Eggs drying out before unwrapping them.
I think we left them in the dye over night.

The egg with the water droplets on it is what it looks like without the nylon on it.
The Bear helped me pick plants, wrap the eggs and plop them in the dye. He also helped me unwrap the eggs - which was the funnest part.

Unwrapping an egg.

Finished product!
It was so fun unwrapping them and seeing what they looked like!
